Cobalt Sulfide Electrode Materials for Lithium⁃Ion Batteries Applications

Lithium ⁃ion batteries (LIBs) have been widely utilized in portable electronic devices due to their high energy density, long cycle life, and convenience of use. The graphite of commercial LIBs cannot meet the new commercial demand due to the low theoretical specific capacity and poor safety. Cobalt sulfide has attracted wide attentions as anode materials due to its high specific capacity and good thermal stability. This review summarized the defects of cobalt sulfide compounds (CoS, CoS2, Co3S4, Co1-xS, Co9S8) and the research progress in their modification for LIBs electrode materials. And the perspective of cobalt sulfide electrode materials was also discussed.

Synthesis and Application of Three⁃Dimensional Mental⁃Organic Framework Based on Tetra⁃Nuclear Cobalt Clusters of Thiacalix[4]arene

With tert⁃butylthiacalix[4]arene as ligand, 5⁃(1H⁃tetrazole)isophthalic acid (H3L) as an auxiliary ligand, metal cobalt ion as a metal source, under solvothermal conditions, The porous compound having a three⁃dimensional structure was prepared by the assembly method, and its molecular formula was [Co4(TC4A)(HL)(SO4)(CH3OH)2]n (solvent) (abbreviated as Co3D).Structure analysis revealed that the Co3D exhibited both hydrophilic and oleophilic one⁃dimensional uniform channels. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated that Co3D is stable up to 315 ℃. The surface area of the title compound estimated to be 541.8 cm2/g by N2 absorption studies.
